What If I’m Still Doubting God?
How wonderful it is that we serve such a compassionate and gentle God.
A God who doesn’t resent our doubts, but rather, welcomes them with open arms.
It appears that it’s often through our doubting that we eventually find ourselves in the place of faith that we want to be in so desperately,
So long as we remain mindful that our doubts serve as doorways to surrender, not excuses for resistance.
God is not afraid of your doubts,
And He desires nothing more than to prove His faithfulness to you.
Yes, we are called to walk by faith.
Though, the faith that we walk by is founded upon the pieces of trust that we’ve developed in Him.
He is our Good Shepherd,
Our ultimate leader,
And our glorious God.
He will never ask us to do anything that He wouldn’t do Himself.
He sets the example for us in everything that we will be called to in this life.
We are called to faithfulness,
“Now it is required that those who have been given a trust must prove faithful.” (1 Corinthians 4:2)
And we are called to follow wherever He leads:
"Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example so that you might follow in His steps.” (1 Peter 2:21)
So then,
It’s only fitting for His natural character to represent the ultimate example of faithfulness that we need.
I heard a quote once that said “the opposite of faith isn’t doubt, but certainty.”
We can’t begin to place our trust in someone unless we first allow room for natural doubt and curiosity to step in.
If you’re never doubting, you’re not thinking.
And as for figuring out something as important as the God you serve,
He couldn’t be more joyful to be given the opportunity to reveal His character to you.
Don’t be so quick to allow your doubts to determine your beliefs about Him.
Rather,
Recognize that it’s often within those doubts that we are invited to step closer into His embrace.
Take your doubts to Him.
Ask Him questions.
Tell Him your worries.
Voice your fears.
Soak in His grace.
Once you do,
I trust that you’ll soon find yourself in the arms of the most compassionate and loving of fathers.
